Our children go to school every day expecting to learn something new. Providing an enriching environment for a gifted learner to blossom and grow is always a work-in-progress. Parenting a gifted learner can be challenging. Often children and families feel they are alone in their journey.
As an affiliate of the Colorado Association for the Gifted and Talented (CAGT), the Chaffee, Lake, and Park (CLaP) Association for Gifted and Talented has a mission of creating community for gifted learners, high achievers, and their families in the region of the Mountain Board of Cooperative Educational Services (Mountain BOCES). Our vision is to assist parents and their school systems in building an educational environment for gifted learners and high achievers that fosters growth. We provide parent support groups, parent education, and gifted advocacy.
Join us for our monthly meetings, typically on the fourth Thursday of the month, from 6 to 7 pm. A different gifted-learner topic is addressed each month. Connect with local families while gaining insights about gifted learners and how to parent them. Learn about strategies to interact positively with your child’s teachers. Join other parents in creating volunteer opportunities for enrichment in your school.
Bring a brown-bag dinner from home or grab something from a nearby restaurant. Kids and their favorite board games are welcome. They will gather in the front room to play games together.
