The Bearded Lady powered by The Crowded Acre

The Crowded Acre:
The Crowded Acre is an experiment in sustainable living and homesteading in the High Country of Central Colorado.  What started out as a one-acre homestead has turned into a small family farm that sits on 15 acres and leases an additional 100 acres.  We are located in the Upper Arkansas River Valley. We are a family of five striving to feed ourselves, naturally, locally, and humanely. We love sharing our stories as much as we love hearing about yours!
The Bearded Lady Powered by The Crowded Acre:
Our goal is to build community through the act of supporting local agriculture.
From the farrowing stall to the fork tines, our goal is to honor our livestock as well as our customers.
From the first seedling to the final crumb, our goal is to keep our menu as fresh as our ingredients.
From the feeding trough to the cutting board, our goal is to handcraft a remarkable product.
We hope you enjoy the fruits of our labor.

Katy Welter

Katy brings legal, financial, and project management expertise to Watershed. Years of community banking in Indiana and working toward justice system reform in Chicago shaped her belief in incremental, community-centered growth. She holds law and public policy degrees from the University of Chicago and plans to practice law in Colorado. She serves as Treasurer of BV Main Street Program and Co-Chair of BV Historic Preservation Commission.

Chuck Welter

Most people know Chuck as the President of First National Bank, Valparaiso for 24 years. He steered and formed the bank into one of the most stable and successful in the country, until his family sold the bank in 2007. In addition to banking, Chuck has owned Valpo First Insurance since 1974, shortly after obtaining his MBA at Notre Dame following his undergrad at IU. If you do not see Chuck in the office, then you may want to check the golf course. Even that may be tough though, as he is a Golf Digest world golf course rater and may be traveling the world on his next trip. With all of his business success, his largest contributions have come from his generosity and community service. Chuck has been President of several organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club, Valpo Parks Foundation, YMCA Foundation, and Indiana Golf Association.
