BV Backcountry Day is a time to demo a variety of winter gear and explore Buena Vista’s backcountry. Come try a winter sport you haven't before and test gear from G3, Salomon, Scarpa, Black Crows, Rocky Mountain Underground, MSR, Weston Snowboards, and more!
Online Registration is now closed, but you can still register for the event the day-of at the Collegiate Peaks Campground. Please remember to bring $10 cash for payment (credit cards will not be accepted).
This event is presented by The Trailhead and Buena Vista Mountain Adventures - BVMA. Guides and staff members will be there to offer tips and instruction.
All skill levels are welcome!
Registration is $10 for the day and will give you access to Backcountry Skis & Skins, Snowshoes, XC Skis, Fat Bikes, and Splitboards.
Guided Backcountry Ski Trips will also be happening at the event (included in registration cost). Registration for these trips is now FULL. However, you can email Susan ([email protected]) if you would like to be put on the waiting list.
All proceeds from this event will benefit Friends of CAIC (The Colorado Avalanche Information Center).

Join us for a FREE Avalanche Awareness Class at The Watershed BV (Back Room) at 410 East Main Street in Downtown Buena Vista. This is just one of the events happening as a part of BV Backcountry Day.
This class will entail a discussion on avalanche problems and what to avoid in the backcountry. This is a great primer for those who may want to get formal avalanche education later on or for those who just want learn more about the backcountry in the winter.
